Role Overview:

In order to support our growth, the Montreal office is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Transportation Engineer, specialized in Transportation, to join our Geotechnical Group, which includes large, interesting, and complex geotechnical engineering projects. 

The successful candidate will complement our existing geotechnical engineering team; perform technical work, manage projects, and assist in developing new business.  This opportunity offers a wide range of technical and business challenges, requiring that the candidate be well-rounded and results-oriented. 

Key Responsibilities:

Geotechnical project management role on a variety of transportation, municipal, land development, and commercial/ industrial projects.

Direction and training of junior and intermediate geotechnical engineering staff

Supervise and lead civil/geotechnical investigation and design activities (Geotechnical road alignment, road based design, foundation design, etc)

Pursue and develop geotechnical project business in Quebec.

Project and budget management including resource management and oversight.

Technical management and direction of site investigations and preparing technical reports.

Ensure all projects follow all established Heath & Safely practices. 

Role Requirements:

Bachelors degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering, or related discipline; post-graduate degree an asset

15+ years of relevant experience with a consulting engineering firm, experience in rock mechanics is an asset

Knowledge and expertise in the following areas:

Transportation (road alignment, design & constructability)

Foundations (design bridges & culverts)

Soil  mechanics and local Quebec soils and geology (on a variety soils, backfill & cutfill)

Demonstrated Project Management skills and the ability to lead, train and mentor junior staff

Track record of successful leadership of diverse project teams. Must be able to influence and lead team members-both those with direct reporting relationships and those who report to others.

Ability and desire to provide growth/business development planning, client liaison/management and contract risk control

Excellent oral and written communication skills in French and English

Excellent client service abilities and ability to meet deliverables on time and on budget

Member of Order of Engineers for Quebec, or eligible to become a member 

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and relevant geotechnical software.
