The Coordinator of Health and Safety reports to the Director of Health and Safety at Construction Santé Montreal and its function is to ensure the health and safety and is guardian of the site.
? Order for and on behalf Montreal Health Construction work stopped when there is a danger to the health, safety and physical integrity of workers.
? Participate in the site committee
? Ensure the implementation of the framework for the Prevention Programme
? To assist employers in developing procedures for working with assessment of associated risks.
? Follow up on work permit.
? Check that the daily meetings of health and safety at work and weekly safety breaks are carried out.
? Carry out regular inspections of the job site and recommend necessary measures to ensure the safety and health of workers.
? Coordinate the implementation of the management system in their specific tasks described in the MSC-PP 08 (referring to the accident, reporting and follow up of corrective actions) and MSC-POP 03 (referring to inspections working conditions
? Apply instructions and any measure of site specific and the framework of the safety prevention program
Investigate, in conjunction with the contractor or its subcontractor, the delegate, or other union representative or successor in any event that could have caused a workplace injury or death and report to the Director of Human Resources.
? Ensure that the employer checks the monthly logbook for cranes and require the inspection of all heavy equipment certificate upon arrival at the site.
? Make inspections and issue correction notices as appropriate and follow-up.
? Require immediate corrective action be taken for hazardous conditions found during inspections.
? Acting as advisor if needed for employers safety breaks.
? Bachelor's degree in a field related to the industry (preferably in engineering)
? Minimum of five (5) years experience in a similar or related position
? Knowledge of laws and regulations regarding health, safety and environment in the construction industry
? Knowledge of OHSAS 18001 certification and CSA Z1000
? Experience on major projects in the institutional sector
? Bilingual French-English, knowledge of Spanish is an asset
? Experience in coordinating multi-cultural team
